Balcony Solar in Nevada
Everything you need to know about plug-in and balcony solar law in Nevada, plus what it means for what you're allowed to plug in, and what it saves.
Is it legal?
Currently unregulated - no legislation introduced yet.
No plug-in solar legislation has been introduced in Nevada as of the 2026 legislative session. Plug-in solar currently sits in a legal gray area: utilities can require interconnection review, permits, and fees, and there are no explicit statutory protections for consumers.
Bright Saver's policy team is building coalitions across all 50 states and working with local advocates to introduce plug-in solar legislation in states like Nevada. When a bill is introduced here, we'll update this page with the details.

What You Can Save in Nevada
Nevada's average residential electricity price is about 14.0 cents per kWh (EIA, 2026 average). A 180 W kit generating about 270 kWh a year could save roughly $38 a year; a 360 W kit roughly $76.
Those are modest numbers on their own, but Nevada's exceptional sunshine means the panel produces more hours per day than in almost any other state. The kit more than pays for itself over its life with no roof work or contractor needed.
