Washington DC's B26-0602 was introduced in the DC Council during the 2026 legislative session and is actively moving through committee review. If passed, it would legalize plug-in solar in the District of Columbia, allowing small solar systems to connect to standard household outlets without utility approval, permits, or an electrician.
Until DC passes the bill into law, plug-in solar sits in a legal gray area: utilities can require interconnection review, permits, and fees.
