14 more states. Public bills. Real momentum for plug-in solar.

There's a different kind of momentum building in statehouses right now. Not giant rooftop solar. Not billion-dollar utility programs. Something smaller, faster, and more democratic. Plug-in solar is going mainstream — bill by bill, state by state.
The Policy Landscape Is Shifting
When we started working on plug-in solar legislation, the map was sparse. Most utility commissions didn't know what a plug-in solar unit was. That's changing fast. Fourteen more states have introduced public bills in the latest legislative cycle. These aren't resolutions or studies. They're real legislation with sponsors who've done the work, stakeholders who've been briefed, and a growing body of evidence from early-adopter states showing plug-in solar works and consumers want it.
What's Driving the Momentum
Electricity prices are up in most states. People want options that don't require a second mortgage or a contractor. At the same time, legislators who want to deliver on clean energy today — not in a decade — are looking for faster paths. Plug-in solar panels install in under an hour with no tools and no permit. That's one of the fastest paths available.
What Bright Saver Is Doing
At Bright Saver, we work directly with state legislators and their staff to shape good policy. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so our interest is making sure the rules serve consumers — not any one company's financial interest. Our NEM GO kit — four 250-watt panels, plug-in install, about 45 minutes — is built for California homeowners with existing rooftop solar. As more states pass clear plug-in solar rules, we're ready to expand.
The map is filling in. The momentum is real. Visit brightsaver.org to see what we're building.
