Yesterday, Bright Saver showed up on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle's print edition. Not buried online. Not a small mention. Right there, on the physical paper that lands on doorsteps across the Bay Area. I had to look at it twice.
What Front-Page Coverage Means
Media coverage follows narrative. Journalists aren't looking for press releases — they're looking for stories that explain something real about how the world is changing. The Chronicle story landed on the front page because plug-in solar isn't a niche technology story anymore. It's a story about energy costs rising for everyday people, about homeowners who want to do something about their bills without waiting for utilities or government, about new clean energy hardware simple enough for anyone to install on a Saturday. That's not a niche story. That's a Bay Area story.
The Validation We Needed
We're a young nonprofit. We've been building in Oakland, shipping kits to California homeowners, working with state legislators, and trying to demonstrate that plug-in solar can scale.
