Nothing Can Stop Our Movement Now

Time is strange here at Bright Saver. When we tell people we started this crazy thing in January of this year, they don't know if we are kidding, exaggerating, or delusional. 

None of the above, actually, but here's the thing about Bright Saver time. It's moving at exactly the speed of the climate crisis in which we find ourselves.

But here is what readers of our recently-released white paper keep telling me is giving them hope. We don't have to subsidize solar to make it an option for every American. All we have to do is get outdated regulations out of the way and then - imagine this - plug-in solar will, our modeling shows, be adopted by 60 million people - 1 in 6 Americans - by 2035.

As of today, five states - PA, NY, NH, VT, and MD - have publicly announced that they will introduce legislation removing the regulatory barriers and we are in touch with more than another 20 that are considering doing the same. Think of it. More than half of the United States of America could make plug-in solar widely available as soon as next year. After at least 5 states enact reform, our modeling projects that costs will fall to rock bottom prices on par with what we are seeing in Germany today - all without public subsidies, incentives, or tax credits.

That's why all organizations - like all people - need our North Stars. We started Bright Saver to make solar accessible to all Americans regardless of income or rental status. That is still our destination though we've had to redraw the map several times over this dizzying decade - I mean, 10 months - of Bright Saver time.
